at From Seattle to the Grand Coulee Dam (Grant County, WA) and back again.
This event has passed.

In response to Molly Mac’s Field Guide, How to get THERE (the dam) from HERE (Seattle), the artist invites you to join her on a weekend road trip to visit the Grand Coulee Dam and sites in and around Electric City.

The tour starts HERE: in the lobby of the Henry.
It’ll take 4 hours to get THERE: The Dam.
We will return HERE on Sunday.

The program will begin on Saturday, August 2 with a self guided tour. Using the map included in Molly Mac’s Field Guide, participants will follow along the route using QR codes to guide them along the way. (find a free QR code reader for your smart phone here.) The tour group will officially convene to watch the Grand Coulee Dam Laser Light show at 9:30pm. Participants must provide their own transportation, QR readable device and lodging in Electric City

On Sunday August 3, the group will reconvene at the Dam to begin an all-day series of performance readings and QR-code driven video commentaries at the dam and along the route back to Seattle. Each of these commentaries create unique opportunities to engage critically with the legacy of the DAM as well as issues of local land use politics, personal narrative, art theory, resource logistics and physical geography. The tour will stop for lunch and an (optional) mineral mudbath in Soap Lake, and other highlights will include stops at Lake Roosevelt, Lenore Caves, Vantage, the North Bend Outlet Mall and many others.

Space is limited – RSVP online by Friday, July 25. For additional information or questions please contact our Public Programs Coordinator Whitney Ford-Terry at whitneyft (at) henryart.org.
